Client Challenge
The agency needed a repeatable, high-quality starting point for commerce projects. Each new storefront was being built from near-scratch, leading to inconsistent architecture decisions, duplicated effort, and longer timelines than clients expected.
Technical Problem
Without a standardised foundation, each project introduced variations in component structure, data fetching patterns, styling approaches, and CMS integration patterns. This made it harder to maintain projects over time and slowed down the onboarding of new team members.
Approach
FlyFox designed a composable storefront template built on Next.js with a shared component system, consistent data layer, and platform adapters for Shopify and BigCommerce. The architecture uses a headless approach with a CMS backend, allowing content editors to manage pages independently of engineering cycles.
Architecture & Implementation
The template features a structured component hierarchy with clear separation between UI components, layout components, and page templates. Platform-specific logic is isolated behind adapter interfaces, so the core frontend remains platform-agnostic. A shared design token system ensures visual consistency across projects, while the build pipeline includes automated performance budgets, accessibility checks, and Lighthouse CI integration.
